Is a branded power supply necessary to run a graphic card like the ati 6670 or the nvidia gt440 ?

i'm talking about power supplies by antec, coolermaster and thermaltake and if yes what is the minimum wattage i would need to run these cards perfectly and will the non-branded power supply supplied with the cooler master 334 elite casing work ok with these cards ?|||You don't necessarily need a name-brand power supply for any card, but it's always encouraged. If your PSU can push at least 350w, then you'll be just fine with a 6670, which is faster than a 440 at about the same price.

The i3 2100 eats diddly squat for power. The whole system might eat 150w if you put it under a major strain. You'll be able to run a 6670 from that 420w PSU no problem.

Shack, you really need to stop posting. You're a lousy computer tech. Really, 650w for a friggin' 6670, a video card with a 65w or so TDP? 500w minimum? Are you kidding me? With a 6670 installed, this thing won't break 300w. Go back and start reading up on how much a system actually eats.|||Hi,

Both Nunya and Vomit gave you good answer.

You will need a better power supply. minimum a 500 Watts, but I would go with a 650 watts.

In this case, the 6670 is better than the GTX 440.

Other good brands and trusted:

Corsair, OCZ and the one you mentions are also good.|||I always recommend branded power supplies. If you buy a cheap one then it can easily fry your whole computer...not worth the risk IMO. Probably need a 500 watt or so. Personally I would grab a 650 or 750 so I'd be set for a couple years
